Primary Purpose:
The High School Principal provides visionary leadership to create a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment for a diverse student body of over 2,000 students. This role requires an instructional leader who fosters academic excellence, promotes equity, and builds strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community. The principal is responsible for overall campus operations, curriculum implementation, staff development, student achievement, and campus culture in alignment with Manor ISD’s mission and goals. The principal is responsible for the transition of three buildings to operate one entity.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in Educational Administration; Texas Mid-management or other appropriate Texas certificate; Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser
Experience:
- Five years of experience as a classroom teacher
- Three years of experience as an assistant principal
- Principal experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Texas education laws, TEA policies, and accountability standards
- Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and student performance improvement
- Ability to coordinate campus operations, manage budgets, and oversee personnel
- Expertise in evaluating instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and implement strategies for school improvement
- Proficiency in fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-expectation school culture
- Experience in leading a large, diverse student population in an urban or suburban setting
- Knowledge of advanced academic programs such as AP, Dual Credit, CTE, and Early College
Essential Job Functions:
Instructional Leadership
- Develop and implement a data-driven instructional program to improve student outcomes.
- Lead initiatives to close achievement gaps and ensure success for all students.
- Monitor state and district accountability measures, including STAAR, EOC, and graduation rates.
- Support advanced academic programs, special education, ESL, and bilingual education programs.
- Provide instructional coaching, mentorship, and professional development to teachers.
- Conduct evaluations using T-TESS/T-PESS to ensure effective teaching and leadership.
- Establish high expectations for staff and students, recognizing excellence and achievement.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuously improving school environment.
School Culture & Student Support
- Promote an inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity and student success.
- Implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to ensure a safe learning environment.
- Collaborate with counselors, interventionists, and social workers to support student well-being.
- Ensure effective student discipline management is aligned with district policies.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders through newsletters, social media, community meetings, and other district-approved mediums.
Operational & Administrative Leadership
- Develop and manage the campus budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal education policies.
- Supervise school safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and crisis management.
- Manage the use and maintenance of school facilities to ensure a safe and orderly campus.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of campus staff, including campus administrators, teachers, counselors, and support personnel.
- Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified educators and staff.
- Establish partnerships with parents, businesses, and community organizations to enhance student experiences.
- Work with parent organizations, booster clubs, and student groups to promote engagement.
- Ensure the seamless, effective consolidation of operations of Manor High School campuses.
