Maintenance Apprentice

Manor Tool is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to join our team in Schiller Park, IL. The Maintenance Apprentice must be a self-starting, motivated individual to work within our maintenance department. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager with facility maintenance, preventive maintenance repairs, improvements, and metal fabrication. As our apprentice, you will learn from a highly regarded industry expert with over 40 years of experience.

Responsibilities:

• Participates in the safety, quality and housekeeping programs as established within the plant.
• Maintain performance standards, quality standards, good attendance record and attitude.
• Performs cleanup duties at workstations, etc.
• Communicate all problems and other work-related issues with supervisor.
• Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate.
• Acts decisively and shows a strong sense of urgency to ensure follow through of established goals.
• Identifies and participates proactively in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental process, and product quality.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures including mission, safety, and attendance requirements.
• Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of this position, as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Basic computer proficiency required.
• Operation of machine tools such as drill presses, mills, grinders, lathes, and various powered hand tools
• Ability to pass company ISO, English, Safety and Math tests.
• Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US.
• Must be drug and alcohol-free.

• Must read, write, and speak English.

• Must be self-motivated to work independently and in a group and meet targets.
• Must perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must have strong attention to detail.
• Must have basic knowledge of punch presses, construction, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Must read and understand schematics.
• Must be able to think and work under pressure and analyze information to identify solutions.
• Must have and execute with sense of urgency.
• MiG/Tig welding a plus

Minimum Physical Requirements

• Stamina to work all assigned hours.
• 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
• Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.
• Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
• Ability to bend, stoop or twist 50% of the workday.
• Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift or carry 50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to work in a shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents.
