Manos Unidas International is pleased to offer employment for the position of Promotora Comunitaria (Family Service Navigator).
About the Program – Ayllu Hogar
Ayllu Hogar is a family-centered home visiting program that supports Hispanic families with children (ages 0-5) who have disabilities, suspected disabilities, or developmental delays. The program helps families navigate early intervention services, prepare for the public school special education system, and build support networks for their child's development.Through in-home visits, community outreach, and social gatherings, Family Service Navigators
(Promotores Comunitarios) help parents:
- Connect with early intervention centers (0-3 years old)
- Support navigating the health system
- Support navigating the special education system
- Connect with community based resources
- Build social supports with other families in the community
This innovative, community-driven approach helps Hispanic families bridge gaps in accessing high-quality education and early support, improving learning outcomes and social inclusion for high-quality education and early support, improving learning outcomes and social inclusion for children with disabilities.
Position and Responsibilities
As a Family Navigator your role will include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
Community outreach and program promotion
- Promoting the program through community outreach, attending fairs and public
events.
- Collaborating and communicating with community referral partners
Home-based visiting
- Conducting home visits with families (1-hour sessions) to provide guidance and
resources.
- Developing personalized family-centered plans based on each family's needs.
- Helping families navigate special education services in public schools.
- Helping families navigate health services
- Connecting families to community resources
- Using Ayllu Hogar’s proprietary video curriculum to educate parents on disability
services.
- Maintaining case documentation and participating in weekly team meetings.
- Supporting program evaluation efforts to measure success.
- Collaborating and communicating with community referral partners
Home-based visiting

Facilitating group family activities
- Organizing and hosting family-centered gatherings and events
- Organizing and hosting monthly cafe de madres for program participants
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years experience working or volunteering as a community health worker, family support professional, home based visitor, family navigator or related position.
- Lived or work experience interacting with and supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and their families.
- Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Must be comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment and willing to take on new tasks as assigned.
- Ability to learn about IDD and community resources through experience, on-the-job training, and professional development, and successfully relay that information to families.
- Commitment to engage in ongoing professional development
- Ability to learn and implement State of Washington Mandatory Reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse economic, ethnic, and social backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with a team.
- Ability to be self-directed, work independently, and function as a team member.
- Ability to set professional boundaries.
Additional requirements include:
- Complete mandatory 40 hour training program with Manos Unidas
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and car insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Basic computer skills (internet navigation, documentation).
- Availability for a 30-hour work week (some evenings & weekends required)
- U.S. work authorization (SS or ETIN)
No higher education is required – lived experience and commitment to community service are prioritized
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a part time 25-30 hour position at $24-$26 per hour
- This position is eligible for a benefits package including PTO (Paid Time Off), paid holidays, and health insurance.
- $0.67/mile reimbursement for work-related travel
Location: Kenmore, WA
- Service Areas: North King County: North Seattle, Shoreline, Lake City, Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland and Redmond
