Director of Secondary Special Education
Start Date: March 17, 2025
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, this person leads, administers, and supervises quality special education programs and services for all identified students with disabilities (grade 6 through age 22) and a caseload of students who attend out of district programs.
Responsibilities include:
•Provides appropriate services for all secondary special education students in accordance with individualized educational programs (IEP)
•Assists in monitoring proper implementation of regulations as defined by IDEA, Chapter 766, PL 94-142, Chapter I: 89-313, PL 99-457, and other state or federal mandates relating to special education and students with disabilities
•Assists in the design, implementation, management, and evaluation of the program of special education services at the secondary level
•Assists and participates in Bureau of Special Education appeals, mediations and hearings
•Assists in the employment and evaluation of secondary special education staff
•Consults with the principal and other administrative staff on school operations, facilities use, budget development, and other general district procedures
•Partners with the secondary principals to plan and implement professional development for secondary special education faculty and paraprofessionals
