ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mid-Level IT Technical Writer to join our team in Stennis, MS.
In this role will be responsible for creating high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, system guides, release notes, and knowledge base articles. The IT Technical Writer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts and software developers to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear and concise documentation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Create and maintain technical documentation for software applications, systems, and processes, including user manuals, system guides, release notes, and knowledge base articles.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and software developers to gather information and understand complex technical concepts.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all technical documentation produced.
Organize and structure information effectively to facilitate easy navigation and retrieval of documentation. Adhere to established documentation standards and guidelines. Meet deadlines and manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
Review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and readability.
Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and make recommendations for process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, quality assurance, and product managers, to gather information and provide input on documentation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
3 of experience in technical writing, preferably in the IT industry
A bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, information security, computer science, or related field of study
Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s degree
Certifications in technical writing, documentation management, or related field (e.g., Technical Writer Certification, Certified Professional Technical Communicator – Foundation)
Familiarity with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or other IT Service Management Frameworks
Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)
Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
Clearance Requirements:
Must have a current/active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
The ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD suitability is required prior to starting this position.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy, machine, and computer printer.
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
