The Sr. Production Supervisor will lead production assemblers, ensuring adherence to standard work procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols. This role is responsible for coordinating schedules, managing resources, and resolving operational issues with a focus on lean manufacturing. The supervisor will foster cross-department collaboration, provide training to develop employee skills, and drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence to optimize productivity and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, motivate, and develop production assemblers to achieve daily production goals while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure new and current employees receive appropriate training on standard work processes, safety protocols, and quality standards to enhance team performance and skills.
- Champion a culture of safety by enforcing safety policies, conducting regular audits, and ensuring employees work in a safe, safety-conscious environment.
- Proactively identify and address operational challenges by troubleshooting issues and driving continuous improvement, while actively participating in lean activities.
- Maintain adherence to 5S standards and foster a 5S culture.
- Develop and execute material replenishment techniques (such as Kanban) based on mix and line rate to optimize operational efficiency.
- Address non-conformances (NCRs) observed in the production process with tangible corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively across departments, including quality, maintenance, and logistics, to align production goals, streamline workflows, and support organizational objectives.
- Effectively manage labor, materials, and equipment to meet production targets while controlling costs and ensuring optimal resource utilization.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, and safety, providing regular reports and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, and 2 to 4 years of supervisory experience in a lean manufacturing environment, or 5 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment, quality standards and material replenishment techniques.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop teams, including assemblers and leads.
- Experience leading production schedules and collaborating with a customer-focused mindset.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) a plus.
- Must demonstrate key competencies: a proactive and results-driven mindset (driver), exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and trustworthiness.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and a reference check.
- Required to stand, push, pull, have eye/hand/foot coordination, occasionally walk.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
- This position works in a typical manufacturing environment.
- Clarity of vision including the ability to appropriately differentiate colors.
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
