Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer drawings, samples, specifications, notes, and RFQs to determine project scope and cost requirements.
- Estimate labor, material, and ancillary costs (e.g., packaging, subcontracting, powder coating, plating, and delivery) for sheet metal parts and assemblies.
- Source and price materials using internal records or by collaborating with vendors and subcontractors.
- Assess tooling needs and calculate associated costs.
- Develop Bills of Material (BOM) and Shop Routing documents to support cost estimates.
- Use Profit Fab ERP software to create, review, and submit detailed cost estimates to clients.
- Adjust quotes as needed based on changes in labor rates, material costs, equipment, or order quantities.
- Communicate professionally with clients’ buyers and engineers via email, phone, or in-person meetings.
- Stay current on plant manufacturing processes to ensure accurate and competitive costing.
- Occasionally travel to customer or supplier locations as required.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in cost estimation for aerospace sheet metal fabrication, including powder coating, plating, and assemblies in low- to high-volume, high-mix environments.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing fundamentals and geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
- Experience in AS9100 and ISO9001 manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting aerospace drawings, with experience using SolidWorks to view 3D models.
- Hands-on ability to use calipers and other measuring tools in English and Metric units.
- Advanced math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for engaging with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Flexibility to take on additional tasks as needed in a dynamic work environment.
- Prior hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with Profit Fab ERP software.
