The Wellness Director will oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of wellness and life enrichment programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for residents in a Life Plan Community / Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). This role will focus on creating a holistic, person-centered approach to health, wellness, and active aging, ensuring residents have access to diverse programs that encourage engagement, fitness, and social connections. The Wellness Director will collaborate closely with other departments, including clinical care, dining, ILR programming, and recreational services, to integrate wellness into all aspects of community life.
- Develop and implement comprehensive wellness programs that address the physical, mental, and emotional health needs of employees or community members.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, fitness instructors, nutritionists, and other professionals to offer a wide range of wellness services and workshops.
- Manage the budget for wellness programs, including negotiating contracts with vendors, securing sponsorships, and allocating resources efficiently.
- Design and oversee the maintenance of wellness facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment.
- Advocate for policies and practices within the organization or community that support a healthy lifestyle, such as healthy food options in cafeterias or time for physical activity during the workday.
- Organize special events such as health fairs, wellness challenges, and guest speaker sessions to engage participants and provide educational opportunities on health and wellness topics.
The Director ensures all programs are resident-centered, inclusive, and aligned with the mission of enhancing the well-being of the community.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Sociology, Recreation, Health & Wellness, Gerontology, Hospitality, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in lifestyle, wellness, or community health programming, with at lease 2 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven experience managing wellness, life enrichment, and healthcare services in a senior living or healthcare setting.
Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance and lifestyle program development.
Certification in Recreation Therapy (CTRS), Wellness Coaching, or related credentials is preferred. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to obtain certifications like the Certified Wellness Program Coordinator (CWPC), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and ICAA Wellness Management Certification to further enhance their expertise in wellness programming.
