What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Lead - Walker, MI position at Maple Leaf Farms?
Job Specifications:
- Review orders that are scheduled for completion during the designated shift of duty.
- Pull necessary materials needed for order completion.
- Ensure materials are pulled according to the bill of material specifications, including correct branding and specified packaging style needed and correct case pack quantities.
- Identify and report inappropriate employee behavior and conduct.
- Promptly notify Production Manager of mechanical and/or material inefficiencies, failures or damages.
- Ensure that the work areas remain clean and orderly, and all safety measures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned & directed by the Production Manager if trained or qualified to do.
Essential Skills:
- Ability to work independent of management supervision.
- Ability to lead others.
- Ability to motivate others.
- Understanding of, and demonstrated use of, VAI system.
- Basic math skills
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Hilo license required or ability to attain one.
- UPS/Fed Ex experience preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of characteristics and properties of all fill materials used in the production of our products.
- Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of all equipment in the facility.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to effectively and appropriately communicate to other personnel.
- Capable of following written and verbal directions.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer skills and software required to complete job task.
Working Climate:
The position is primarily a factory environment, and could involve sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, and lifting for long periods of time. Involves lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 45 pounds. Exposure to noise, dust and feathers is evident at all times. The work environment is not air-conditioned.
