What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper position at Maple Point Supportive Living?
JOB PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
1. Cleans resident living areas and bathrooms, bathing areas, lounges, offices, hallways, dining areas, recreational areas, and other rooms as assigned according to established procedures.
2. Cleans and mops floors, dusts and/or washes furniture, fixtures and equipment,
3. Washes windows and sills, polishes chrome and cleans glass on doors and fixtures.
4. May transport soiled and clean linen to and from the laundry room and stocks linen storage areas according to assigned procedures.
5. Empties waste containers within resident units.
6. Performs cleaning procedures in resident rooms as defined on the Resident Room Checklist.
7. Scours and polishes bathtubs, sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment.
8. Keeps equipment and supply storage areas in good order by cleaning cabinets, shelves, etc. Also, arranges supplies or stock items in these areas in a neat and orderly fashion. Replaces light bulbs as needed.
9. Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement program.
10. Maintains a high degree of personal hygiene and follows all infection control procedures as established by the facility.
11. Reports any damages, equipment breakdowns or areas in need of repair to the Director.
12. Interacts with residents in a cheerful and positive manner. Reports unusual behavior to the Director or Nurse.
13. Attends inservice meetings and departmental staff meetings as directed by the Director.
14. Is knowledgeable of all policies and procedures as they apply to the functioning of the Housekeeping Department.
15. Employee is responsible for being knowledgeable of and able to perform all fire and safety, tornado, and disaster evacuation procedures. Employee shall participate in all building preparedness programs.
16. Performs other duties as requested by the Director.
WORKING HOURS
Working hours shall be determined and scheduled by the Director.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Usually works indoors. Works with a variety of cleaning compounds, disinfectants and germicidals that may cause adverse skin reactions. Possibility of cuts or minor bruises from use of equipment. May encounter slippery areas. Some lifting of equipment and furnishings encountered. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Possibility of injury from irrational residents.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to acquire sufficient knowledge through on-the-job training and instructions to satisfactorily meet job performance requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to stoop, reach for, and lift housekeeping supplies, equipment, linens and furnishings. Involves lifting mop buckets, laundry bags and trash which can weigh up to 65 lbs. Stands and walks short distances most of the working day. Must have manual dexterity required to handle equipment associated with job performance requirements and ability to push and pull fully loaded housekeeping carts and beds, which weigh
