Maplewood Nursing Home is seeking a Infection Prevention / Employee Health Nurse, certified as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire.
Monday to Friday / 40 hours a week (Salaried Position)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and facilitates the QAPI/CQI (Quality Assurance Process Improvement and Continuous Quality Improvement program) for the Nursing Facility;
- Oversees staff responsible for Infection Prevention, Employee Health and Staff Development, as well as staff in Medical Records ;
- May assume overall responsibility of facility in the absence of Administrator and Director of Nursing Services. Collaborates with Director of Nursing Services when Administrator absent.
- Interfaces with all department managers at Maplewood Nursing Home. Responsible for guiding department heads in all quality assurance and performance improvement efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and distributes reports and charts related to QAPI/CQI audits.
- Manages the annual QAPI/CQI audit calendar and makes recommendation for change to the Administrator as needed.
- Collaborates with the Staff Development Coordinator to assure that staff receive appropriate training as identified in QAPI/CQI audits.
- Coordinates the efforts of all QAPI/CQI sub-committees to assure that QAPI/CQI goals are met.
- May assist Director of Nursing Services, nursing supervisors and Unit Managers in coordinating resident care.
- Collaborates with the NHA and DON and motivates staff to ensure safe, effective operations of the nursing home that will result in full compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Performs daily rounds and participates in various inspections; gathers data and reports at QAPI/CQI.
- Assists in maintaining good public relations with staff, management, residents, family members, visitors, the public.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the elderly, ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
- Must be willing to accept responsibility and accountability for carrying out your assigned duties.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Administrator.
- May be required to work for emergency reasons beyond regularly scheduled shift.
- Must have the ability to be detail oriented, handle multiple tasks, and work well under pressure.
- Works with HR to help recruit and retain employees.
- Serves on various committees.
- May assist Administrator in preparing and presenting department budget; may assist in overseeing fund expenditures throughout all departments.
- Determines and advocates for staffing levels that promote high quality of care.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree from accredited college and has completed the AIT (may be waived by administrator); may already have a NHA license.
- Must possess knowledge of and background in geriatric health care facility administration, including state and federal licensure requirements and funding mechanisms.
- Must have strong supervisory, management and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to balance diverse responsibilities, work under pressure, cope with stress and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Teaching professionals and assisting them in their skills.
- Assists in maintaining a reasonable, safe environment for residents, staff, visitors.
- Capacity to grasp new theories and principles and put them into effect.

WORK CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION
- Sits, stands and walks throughout the workday.
- Works inside, generally throughout building.
- Well lighted, well ventilated rooms and halls.
- Reaches for, moves, bends, twists and lifts residents, equipment and supplies; 50 lb. limitation without assistance.
- Exposed to infection, odors, peculiarities and mood changes of the aged.
- May be required to handle emergencies.
- May be subject to needle sticks.
- May be subject to interruptions.
- Good physical health: mental stability.
- Use of nursing or therapy equipment (i.e. med carts, glucometers, ACP, etc.), instruments, machines.
- Use of computer and telephone systems.
- Cognitive and sensory requirements (talking, hearing, sight, ).
