Position Summary: The Laundry Attendant is responsible for laundering culinary linens, bed linens, select associate uniforms, as well as washing residents’ laundry to individual specifications.
Accountabilities: A Laundry Attendant is responsible for providing a constant supply of clean linen for the dining rooms and residence floors. The Laundry Attendant is also responsible for cleaning residents’ personal items. For personal items, a Laundry Attendant must follow specific instructions for laundering and drying. The Laundry Attendant is also responsible for the maintenance of select associate uniforms by accurately tracking uniforms laundered in house or dry-cleaned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must possess a passion for working with the senior population and improving their quality of life
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Personal Characteristics:
- Oral and written comprehension and expression - Must be able to convey and understand information and ideas in English
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular situation
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers, residents and guests
- Ability to stand for long hours and walk long distances without fatigue
- Ability to bend, stretch, stoop and reach repeatedly without difficulty
- Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
- Utilize technology as a means of communication necessary to support resident needs and ensure operational compliance as well as resident safety and security
Typical Work Duties & Functions:
- Pick up used linens/laundry/uniforms from designated areas using an industrial laundry pushcart or service cart
- Deliver clean linens/laundry to appropriate location using an industrial laundry pushcart or service cart
- Sort all linens prior to washing and treat stains appropriately
- Load all laundry into washer and add specified cleaning agents
- Take wet, clean items and dry as directed
- Sort and fold or hang clean dried items
- Use iron as needed
- Maintain inventory of all laundry supplies and communicate supply needs to Housekeeping Supervisor
- Properly use and maintain all laundry equipment and inform Chief Engineer as to any maintenance needs
- Perform additional laundry services when necessary
- Participate in on-going in-service and training requirements
- Follow emergency procedures when chemicals are accidentally misused
- Understands and complies with all Inspīr safety practices and procedures
Working Conditions:
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including COVID-19, HIV, AIDS and Hepatitis B & C viruses
- Under variable temperature conditions

- Outdoors/Indoors
- Around chemicals, fumes and/or odor hazards
- Around dust and/or mite hazards
- Property operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day
- Required to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Required to work extended hours and to report to work during times of need including inclement weather and when building concerns arise
- Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental infirmities
