MapR is looking for a talented contract Graphic Designer to join our Creative Team in a long-term contract position. The ideal candidate is passionate about visual storytelling, driven, highly organized, and possesses strong attention to detail. Applicants must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage time efficiently, work on multiple projects concurrently, present and defend concepts and ideas to internal marketing team members, and communicate exceptionally well.
This person must maintain flexibility and the ability to adapt, learn quickly, and take direction which are all huge keys to success in this role. The role reports to the Creative Director and is based out of Santa Clara, CA joining a Silicon Valley enterprise software company that pioneered one platform for all data across every cloud with speed, scale, and reliability for AI and analytics.

Be able to present creative work in a variety of settings : 1 : 1 with the manager, in a small or large group, to different teams, etc.
Adhere to and help build on approved typography, photography, graphic, and brand standards
Develop and execute unique concepts, designs, and layouts for digital and print marketing, to deliver on project objectives and brand visual identity
Ensure our design vision is maintained and deliverables are completed on the requested deadlines

Well-versed in the CS Suite, primarily Illustrator and Photoshop
Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team

Understands the technology space and the nuances that can happen
Ability to prioritize projects, communicate progress, and deliver on time

The confidence and skill to communicate your ideas clearly
Can jump in at a moment’s notice and participate in review meetings and presentations
The ability to take ownership and be motivational

You’re a lifelong learner, always up on the latest trends and tools
Big bonus if you’re a mastermind at PowerPoint, AfterEffects, and / or building animations; but if you’re not, your visual problem-solving skills still set you above the rest
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred [or] 3-5 years of equivalent relevant work experience
Ability to turn around projects within a 24 - 48 hour period; typical delivery is three days
Solid or expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (especially Photoshop and Illustrator)
Strong understanding of web design best practices, digital ads, responsive design, information hierarchy, graphics creation
The ability to work as a team with other designers, developers, and different functional areas within the company
Knowledge of digital art and illustration, comfortable drawing custom vector graphics & icons
Knowledge of presentation templates such as PPT, Keynote, and Google Slides
