CU Benefits Alliance, an employee benefits consultancy and subsidiary of Maps Credit Union, seeks a full-time Sr. Employee Benefits Account Manager to manage and maintain relationships with clients by providing expert advice and service regarding their employee benefits plans which include health insurance, wellness programs, and other voluntary benefits. This position is responsible for managing a book of business comprised primarily of self-insured clients and will be the main contact between clients and insurance carriers.

Key responsibilities include:
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and practitioners at client companies.
- Proactively reach out to clients to understand their needs and concerns.
- Conduct regular client meetings to review benefit plans and address any issues.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and requests.
Claims Management
- Assist clients with resolving claims issues and questions.
- Monitor claims trends and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
Benefit Plan Design and Analysis
- Analyze clients’ current benefit plans and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop customized benefit packages in partnership with a Benefits Consultant based on client needs and budget.
- Compare proposals from different insurance carriers to find the best fit.
- Prepare detailed benefit summaries and presentations for clients.
Renewal Process
- Analyze renewal data and prepare for upcoming benefit renewals.
- In conjunction with a Benefits Consultant, negotiate rates and coverage with insurance carriers.
- Present renewal options to clients and manage any changes.
- Open Enrollment Management
- Coordinate and execute annual open enrollment processes.
- Develop communication materials for employees explaining benefit options.
- Conduct employee education sessions and answer questions during open enrollment.
Compliance and Regulatory
- Stay informed about current healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ensure client benefit plans adhere to all legal mandates.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Account Management expertise: Proven ability to independently manage multiple clients and build strong, positive relationships. Ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Communication skills: Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively present complex information to different stakeholders
- Project management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects independently, simultaneously, on time and within budget.
- Benefits/Healthcare Industry expertise: Knowledge and experience in the healthcare industry including fully insured and self-funded group medical and non-medical healthcare products. Understanding of financial and regulatory matters affecting practice areas.
- Work Product: Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; excellent time-management, problem-prevention, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work accurately with strong attention to detail.
- Relationship skills: Ability to work with co-workers, members, third party vendors, and outside agencies professionally and tactfully.
- Professionalism and Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements
- Seven years of benefits account management experience.
- Deep understanding of health insurance products, including medical, dental, vision, and life.
- Experience working with financial industry clients is preferred.
- Must be a Licensed Life and Health agent.
Starting exempt pay range: $95,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on relevant experience.
Work schedule: Monday–Friday, business hours. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
