FFA Advisor Assistant

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
- Attend state and/or national FFA convention
- Encourage members to try-out, train/prep and compete
- Assist students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, district, state, and national levels
- Assist in preparing and training leadership contest teams/individuals
- Assist in preparing and training career development event teams
- Assist students in preparing state and American degree applications
- Assist students in preparing proficiency award applications
- Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the chapter
- Assist in the coordination of the local FFA Booster Chapter
- Assist in the fundraising activities of the chapter
- Assist in the day to day management and operations of the chapter
- Communicate effectively with high school aged students and their guardians
- Must have a working understanding of agricultural education and FFA
- Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Publisher, and Agriculture Experience Tracker (AET)
- Will be required to type, proofread, create documents, spreadsheets, power points, and make phone calls
- Must be willing to transport students to and from FFA activities, events and contests
- Run errands for chapter/program and perform miscellaneous duties as they arise relating to Ag Ed/FFA
- Provide support to students and families in planning and evaluating individual student Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects
- Provide insight and feedback to CDE participants
- Assist advisor and chapter officers in the planning of activities throughout the year
- Assist advisor in the supervising of chapter members during FFA events
- Assist advisor in identifying (tagging/DNA samples) market lambs, goats, and pigs for the Iowa State Fair or other paperwork/projects related to the project area
- Attend some portion of the Jackson County Fair and Iowa State Fair to assist with supervision/herdsmanship
- Help coordinate chapter officer applications and interviews
- Work with officer team for events and planning meetings
- Help plan and co-chaperone the FFA officer retreat
- Help plan, set-up and be present at the annual chapter banquet
- Assist the Maquoketa FFA Advisor with various events/duties as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Compensation:
- $20 per hour, up to 125 hours per fiscal year. Hours will be determined by FFA Advisor.
- This is an hourly position not covered by the MEA Master Contract.
