What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor (1st Shift) position at Mar-Bal?
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- General supervision of daily shift activities, including scheduling operators and utilities in responsible areas.
- Processes shift report via ERP at the end shift.
- As needed, modifies ERP schedule to change work orders.
- Reviews material labels used on shift for disposition status.
- Conducts periodic cycle counts on platform material vs system on hand levels.
- Advocate 5S principles and the importance of a clean, safe, organized work center to shift employees
- Trains and instructs employees on the shift on the proper production procedures to maximize production and quality.
- Monitors shift performance against Efficiency, Productivity, and Labor Utilization goals
- Maintains a safe environment in plant supporting company safety program.
- Adjusts machines (processes) to maintain quality or production standards as necessary.
- Conducts performance evaluations and maintains skills checklists for each employee on the shift.
- Motivates and leads shift to higher production, quality, and safety standards. Develops a working team.
- Issues corrective action warnings in accordance with company rules and regulations.
- Reports any mold rework or correction needs to toolroom.
- Reports problems with machinery or any other equipment to Maintenance Manager verbally and written request for repair.
- Communicates with the other Shift Supervisors, Process Engineer, etc via daily shift handoff meetings.
- Addresses employee issues and concerns, along with formally documenting and submitting to Human Resources in the event there is a need for further investigation and resolution.

- Ability to solve complex problems individually and quickly
- Demonstrates leadership skills and develops team members to transition to more responsibilities
- Communicates professionally and effectively with others, demonstrate, by example, good customer service
- Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), an ERP system and other related software utilizing a Windows platform.
