Key Responsibilities
Project Engineer Responsibilities
- Project Management Support
- Assist Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects.
- Track project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure on-time completion.
- Facilitate communication among project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare, review, and process submittals, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, daily reports, and progress photos.
- Generate regular updates on project progress and financial health for internal and client reporting.
- Quality Control
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and company standards.
- Conduct site visits to assess progress and resolve on-site issues.
- Collaboration & Problem-Solving
- Work with the field team to address challenges and implement solutions effectively.
- Support project closeout by ensuring punch list items and final inspections are completed.
- Cost Estimation
- Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using industry-standard tools and software.
- Bid Preparation
- Prepare competitive and detailed bids, including bid forms, alternates, and value engineering options.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing and analyze proposals.
- Budgeting & Analysis
- Assist with pre-construction budgeting and cost forecasting.
- Perform cost analysis to identify areas for potential savings and efficiency.
- Market Research
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure accurate pricing.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in construction project management, estimating, or a related role.
- Experience in commercial, healthcare, or institutional construction is a plus.
- Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam) and estimating tools (e.g., Quickbid, onscreen take off, Timberline, or similar).
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to create detailed cost breakdowns.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
