Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. In this role, you will provide essential care, support, and supervision to individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, and mental disabilities. You will play a key part in promoting independence and well-being by implementing individualized care plans and creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Resident Care and Support
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal hygiene, and household tasks.
- Promote positive social interactions and support community involvement.
- Implement individual care plans, including health maintenance, independent living, and behavior management.
- Documentation and Compliance
- Monitor and document progress, behaviors, and any incidents following agency guidelines.
- Administer prescribed medication and support behavior management techniques as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment.
- Program Participation
- Provide 24-hour supervision as assigned, ensuring safety and welfare.
- Assist with transportation to appointments, activities, and outings.
- Support residents in achieving their individualized goals, participating in recreational and therapeutic activities, and following the structured activity schedule.
- Communication and Team Support
- Maintain open communication with supervisors and report incidents or behaviors promptly.
- Attend all required training and meetings.
- Act as a role model for residents, fostering a respectful and dignified atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working with adults with intellectual and physical disabilities preferred.
- Certifications: Medication Management, CPR, TOVA, and other relevant training (or willingness to obtain).
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, documentation abilities, and knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License and clean DMV record.
- Must pass FBI, State Police, and Department of Social Services Criminal Record Checks.
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals safely as needed.
