Plans, coordinates, and manages assigned maintenance functions for the Marana Unified School District's Facilities Management Department; Supervises the maintenance and repairs of District facilities, e.g., Carpentry, Warehouse, Painting, Grounds, Locksmithing, Roofing and Custodial Services; supervises the Department's Facilities preventative maintenance program; conducts facilities inspections and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, assigns, inspects and supervises facilities maintenance, repairs and construction activities.
  • Performs work on facilities building systems and components to ensure proper operations.
  • Manages and coordinates assigned work through the district work order system (School Dude) and preventative maintenance program as well as facilities inspections associated to Building Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance and Custodial inspections / performance.
  • Assists in ensuring the District's facilities and equipment are safely and properly maintained for use by employees, students and the general public.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; ensures staff compliance with departmental policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety practices.
  • Administers the Department's Facilities preventative maintenance program; schedules, coordinates, and supervises related maintenance activities.
  • Conducts facilities inspections and monitors for compliance with applicable building codes, health and safety regulations, and Arizona School Facilities Board mandates.
  • Identifies maintenance deficiencies; evaluates and incorporates maintenance requirements into short and long-range plans.
  • Communicates with District departments regarding maintenance requirements; evaluates maintenance requests for validity and feasibility.
  • Coordinates with administrators, contractors, vendors, and onsite personnel regarding the maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment and / or components.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of maintenance related records, reports, and documentation including contract specifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge of :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in installing, repairing / maintaining buildings and grounds, occupational hazards and safety precautions of work
  • Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of public grounds and buildings.
  • Regulations and standards governing facilities maintenance activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
  • Preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
  • Facilities maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
  • Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
  • Required Skills :

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Supervise, manage and coordinates assigned facilities maintenance functions.
  • Proficiency of standard office software applications, such as but not limited to Word, Excel, etc., for business planning, work scheduling and building automation.
  • Supervises, leads and delegates tasks and authority.
  • Physical Requirements required :

  • Occasional heavy lifting of objects to 80 pounds such as ladders, air compressors, pumps or other equipment.
  • Subject to climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolds and working at heights above 30 feet.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Work is performed primarily in an external environment and with exposure to inclement weather and varying temperatures.
  • Education and Experience :

    Associate's Degree in Facilities Maintenance Technology or related field, and three years' experience managing facilities maintenance activities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Required Licenses and Certifications :

  • Forklift Operator's License is required.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Internal candidates must submit a request for transfer form signed by your site administrator within 5 working days of the posting date.

    29.49 / hour - 12 Month position - 40 hours / week
