Develops strategies to manage refinery turbomachinery assets at peak performance to optimize lifetime return on investment and to mitigate reliability risk of the operating units across all sites.
This position reports to the Rotating Equipment SME Supervisor and may be based in any refinery location; Findlay, OH; or San Antonio, TX.
Travel requirement is 75%.

Travel requirement is 75%.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides technical oversight for rotating equipment controls projects to make sure they are delivered on-time, on-budget, and built for purpose.
- Develops control system design and configuration guidance documentation
- Develops, revises, and maintains control system specifications
- Approves vendor control system designs and design changes
- Reviews and approves project RFIs.
- Provides refinery compressor controls support as needed: Turnarounds, FAT testing, PSAT testing, PSCP commissioning, and compressor controls incident investigation advisement.
- Leads improvement initiatives. Develops timelines and milestones, defines deliverables, trains and serves as mentor to personnel, and conducts field implementation and follow-up.
- Provides technical support to refineries on turbomachinery and reciprocating compressor controls troubleshooting impacting safety and reliability to achieve corporate goals.
- Drives standardization across refineries for equipment controls
- Hardware Panel Designs – Hazardous Area and Non-Hazardous Areas
- Equipment Control and Monitoring software
- Compressor Control and Monitoring DCS Interface for Operations
- High Speed Data Acquisition system and configuration (Trip Analyzer)
- Reliability and Maintenance HMI
- Equipment Control System Design Documentation
- Testing Documentation (FAT functional acceptance testing, PSAT pre-startup acceptance testing, PSCP post-startup commissioning procedure)
- Project Documentation
- Training Documentation
- Proposals and proposal development process
- Project Execution, Schedules, and RFI Documentation
- Maintains relationships with alliance vendors and continuously improves systems, drives efficiency of vendor engineering and fabrication, and keeps costs in check.
- Develops improvement strategies to effectively close gaps and ensures alignment with long-term sustainability objectives and conformity with industry standards and best practices.
- Stays abreast of latest industry best practices, technology, and equipment design through participation in professional organizations/associations.
- Supports the activities of the ROTAG Advisory Group. Identifies areas to be addressed based on the overall needs of the Refining Organization.
- Works with the Corporate Training Group and is one of the subject matter experts (SME) for developmental classes (PATH Classes) in their area of expertise. Reviews PATH class content and conducts classes as needed. Provides feedback on positions within the refining organizations that should attend classes. Provides feedback on the class content or the need for additional training.
- Bachelors degree is preferred.
- Ten plus years of relevant work experience in rotating equipment and/or controls is required.
- Knowledgeable in Turbomachinery Controls, Centrifugal Compressors, Reciprocating Compressors, Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Pumps
- Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, TEAMS; SAP; Trip Analyzer; Tristation; DCS Controls is preferred.
