These solutions, which sometimes include new sitewide initiatives, contribute to longer run time, reduction in maintenance cost, and improved safety. The job role includes technical and strategic support on preventive maintenance, repair, and operation of existing equipment as well as engineering support on modifications and on new equipment specification. The position requires interfacing with craft technicians, craft advisors, project engineers, process engineers, operations specialists, supervision, and management. This position reports to the Reliability Manager at Marathon Petroleum Company's Garyville, LA Refinery.

The position requires interfacing with craft technicians, craft advisors, project engineers, process engineers, operations specialists, supervision, and management. This position reports to the Reliability Manager at Marathon Petroleum Company's Garyville, LA Refinery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review work order failure coding and make corrections as needed.
- Utilize work order data to identify “bad actors” with high maintenance cost or high cost of downtime.
- Submit Project Request Forms (PRFs) and assist in Decision Support Package (DSP) creation which includes developing concepts and cost justification for reliability improvements.
- Review and approve pump seal change recommendations from onsite Flowserve Application Engineers.
- Champion Management of Change for maintenance driven changes and minor modifications to improve reliability.
- Assist in keeping rotating equipment documentation and spare parts up to date, submitting drawings to librarians and stock change requests to material coordinators.
- Lead formal incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions for equipment failures and champion the implementation of recommendations resulting from incident investigations.
- Utilize reliability tools such as Reliability Growth Analysis, Asset Criticality Analysis, TapRoot, and Life cycle cost analysis.
- Help establish equipment monitoring, operating limits, and alarming strategies.
- Assist process engineers with equipment capacity increase evaluations.
- Coordinate turnaround preventive maintenance scope identification and add identified scope to turnaround worklists.
- Provide leadership and decision-making on repair solutions during turnarounds and unplanned equipment outages.
- Participate in capital and expense project development, aiding in equipment design/specification and cost estimation and ensuring compliance with Marathon rotating equipment specifications.
- Support and consult corporate rotating equipment specialists.
- Consult Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) and vendors on equipment evaluation, repair, and specification/design.
- Participate in Unit Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs).
- Occasionally train craft technicians, craft advisors, and operators.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work history is required.
- Experience with reciprocating and centrifugal compressors, positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, air blowers, special purpose condensing turbines, and mechanical seals is preferred.
- Experience with vibration analysis and mechanical lubrication is preferred.
- Experience with GE APM, PI Vision, Bentley System 1 is preferred.
