What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marine Maintenance Intern position at Marathon Petroleum?

At Marathon Petroleum Company, we offer a maintenance internship opportunity within our Marine Repair Facility (MRF) in Catlettsburg, KY. This role will play a key part in enabling our business to make informed decisions, adapt to change, and continuously improve.
The Maintenance Intern will gain meaningful hands-on experience by rotating through different areas in the MRF, including:
Barge Cleaning
Perform activities in the Boiler Area, Tank Farm, Water Treatment Plant, and Vapor Control Unit such as:
- Running hotwash pumps to supply hot water washing barges
- Running daily analysis of samples from the Waste Water Treatment Plant and boilers
- Participating in safety and training activities
Boat and Barge PM's
Responsibilities include:
- Equipment installation (pull wire, install new equipment, and housekeeping)
- Acquiring parts and materials required for the jobs
Shop Welding
Tasks include:
- Cutting/fitting
- Running for parts
Up to 25% travel may be required.
