What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refining Security Specialist position at Marathon Petroleum?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates the development and compliance of regulatory required facility security plans to comply with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of Transportation (DOT) Security Plans.
Coordinates site vetting to provide employee and contractor access control compliance in accordance with federal and state regulations and MPC policies and procedures.
Monitors the effectiveness of the refinery security systems and determines the need for maintenance and innovative upgrades.
Develops, implements, maintains and administers the refinery’s security policies, plans and procedures.
Manages the day-to-day activity, scheduling, and coordination of the contract security guard force.
Conducts Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) as applicable to Salt Lake City.
Interacts with refinery management and HR on security-sensitive issues and in formulating security strategy and initiatives.
Coordinates and conducts security investigations.
Prepares security contingency plans and provides resources to counteract the effects of security incidents, emergencies and crises.
Responds to plant emergencies and serves as the Facility Security Officer through the Incident Command Center and ensures appropriate security measures during events.
Interacts with the Corporate Refining Safety & Security Director, Corporate Security, and the Corporate Safety and Security department.
Maintains close liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and industry security and intelligence professionals to further MPC’s security programs and business interests.
Develop Capital and Expense budgets for the Security Department.
Develop and implement detailed turnaround Security Plans.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum (Required) Qualifications
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in Corporate Security, Industrial Security, or Law Enforcement - Federal, State or Municipal service. Military service also considered.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Demonstrates expert skills in gathering and assessing information related to potential security threats and developing appropriate preventive strategies within their area of assignment.
Extensive walking and climbing stairs/ladders as needed to conduct physical inspections.
Basic knowledge of physical security measures such as, but not limited to, intrusion detection systems, monitoring, fencing, access control systems, and other physical security measures.
Willing to work extended hours (including nights and weekends) when planned activities or emergency situations arise.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Valid driver's license required
