Job Summary
Marathon TS is seeking a dentist to join our healthcare team in a detention setting serving federal detainees. The Dentist will provide oral healthcare services, including preventive care, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education, in a secure environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine dental exams, cleanings, and evaluations to maintain and improve patients' oral health.
- Diagnose and treat dental conditions, including cavities, infections, and gum disease.
- Provide dental restorations, extractions, and other necessary procedures within the scope of practice.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for each patient.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and overall dental health.
- Collaborate with detention facility staff and federal authorities to ensure the highest standard of care.
- Participate in facility audits, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the unique medical and behavioral needs within a detention environment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Current, unrestricted dental license in the state of Virginia (required).
- DEA registration and ability to prescribe medications in Virginia.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in correctional, detention, or underserved settings.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Strong diagnostic, procedural, and patient communication skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive care in a secure environment.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual in Spanish (strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with federal detention dental care protocols and standards.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
