Operations Supervisor/Planner

MVRTD seeks to add an Operations Supervisor/Planner to grow the operations team.The Operations Supervisor/Planner plays a pivotal role in the success of the operations department and the vitality of public transportation services in the Rutland Region. The Operations Supervisor/Planner will work closely with the Operations Manager to assist in supervising and supporting the Drivers, Dispatchers and Schedulers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop strategies to improve infrastructure.
• Design systems and coordinate projects to address current and future organizational needs.
• Provide support to the Senior Leadership Team.
• Support and supervise the daily operations of public transportation.
• Develop and implement initiatives to enhance the service to the community.
• Supervision of Driver’s, Dispatcher’s and Scheduler’s performance, ensuring safety protocols and procedures are being met.
• Analyze the efficiency, safety, and ridership of each route.
• Data collection, traffic modeling, creating reports, presenting proposals, and advocating for transportation projects to relevant authorities.
• Responds to accidents/incidents/ complaints. Investigate and complete all necessary documentation.
• Monitors on time performance.
• Provides assistance to drivers, passengers, the community and MVRTD community partners.
• Recommends disciplinary action when needed.
• Assists the planning of and responding to situations that may impact route schedules.
• Must be able to adjust schedule based on operational needs.
• Willing to participate in trainings and conferences to enhance operations

Experience, Qualifications and Education: 3-5 years supervisory experience required. Previous experience in supervising operations in the transportation industry or in other related fields helpful. Knowledge of safe and efficient operations of public transportation will be beneficial in the placement of this position however not required. Strong leadership qualities together with strong problem solving and critical thinking are essential to this position. Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population. Working effectively in an environment that has several priorities and to be able to exercise good judgement as situations arise is required. MVRTD offers an excellent benefit package and competitive wages. Commercial Driver’s License Class B with airbrakes and passenger endorsement strongly preferred or be willing to obtain within 60 days of employment. MVRTD will provide this training.
