Middle School Outdoor Track & Field Coach

The Marblehead Veterans Middle School outdoor track coach is responsible for leading and motivating a team of middle school student athletes, to practice regularly and compete at home and away meets. The coach is expected to teach track and field strategies and techniques. In addition, the coach will promote teamwork, sportsmanship and respect, commitment, integrity, and responsibility. Below are the essential qualifications, requirements, and responsibilities of a Middle School Track Coach. QUALIFICATION Knowledge of Track & Field techniques, strategy, and skills. Excellent communication and people skills. Ability to mentor and motivate athletes, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them achieve their goals Organizational and management skills, including the ability to schedule and plan practices and events. Familiarity with Track & Field rules and safety guidelines. REQUIREMENTS Experience coaching and or participating in Track & Field events Leads by example regarding the promotion of sportsmanship Must complete all Massachusetts coaching requirements, which includes the NFHS Concussion Certificate Must complete Marblehead School District requirements: Fingerprinting, CORI Background check Must complete CPR/AED and First Aid Certification PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, and the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit Be exposed to heat, humidity, dust, rain, snow, and other weather and adverse environmental conditions. The ability to travel between locations RESPONSIBILITIES Make practice plans and prepare the team to compete in meets Attend all practices and meets, including supervising on the bus to and from away matches. Communicate the team's practice and meet schedule with the team and parents or guardians. Communicate all fundraising activities with the team and parents or guardians. Organize, distribute, and collect uniforms from the team. Maintains a positive staff relationship with other coaches and the trainer.. Work with the middle school principal and athletic director to ensure compliance with all necessary requirements and regulations, including safety and liability issues.
