Speech/Language Pathologist Job Description - Summer 2025 Position
The Marblehead Public School District is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist to fill an assignment within the district. The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, and communication disorders, as well supporting students with assistive technology used during the school day.. This role involves collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to support students' academic and social success.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
Licensure: DESE-issued license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Experience: Previous experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (Clinical Fellows may be considered).
A Speech Pathologist Assistant with exceptional experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment: Conduct evaluations to identify speech and language disorders in students, including articulation, fluency, and language comprehension.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's needs, ensuring compliance with educational standards.
Therapeutic Intervention: Provide direct therapy to improve communication skills, utilizing various techniques and materials.
Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and school staff to create a supportive environment for students, offering strategies to accommodate their needs in the classroom.
Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document students' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
Education and Training: Educate families on communication strategies and how to support their child's development at home.
Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology.
Provide services on an individual or small-group basis
Knowledge and experience with AAC devices
Maintain documentation on students under their care
Experience across multiple grade levels preferred
Understanding of trauma-informed practices
