What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Marc Fisher Footwear?
The Accountant role will perform general financial accounting functions and support related to the collection, accuracy, recording & analysis of Marc Fisher Footwear’s financial operations.
This position will report directly to the General Accounting Manager of the company and will be based out of our Headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut with the ability to work hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days WFH).
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the month-end financial closing process through accounting system, including preparing journal entries in the following areas – Payroll, Prepaid, Amortization, Reserves and other monthly entries.
- Compile and analyze quarterly royalties reporting to licensors.
- Leadership role in daily bank reconciliation process within the Oracle Cash Management system. Including coordination with other employees to reconcile all bank activities to the General ledger.
- Monthly reconciliations of Inter-company accounts, prepaid, cash accounts and other accounts assigned.
- Prepare monthly Profit & Loss analysis, identify key drivers of large variances for sales, cost of goods sold and major expenses accounts.
- Provide support to external auditors and management and other Special Projects as needed.
- Reconcile financial data from different databases to ensure financial accuracy, communicate with responsible personnel to make necessary adjustments if needed.
- Assist with special projects or Ad hoc requests.
Backup Responsibilities as needed:
- Fixed asset accounting. Track all capital expenditures, Capex budget variance analysis and update fixed asset schedules monthly/yearly.
- Track and reconcile Factor activity and balances weekly and monthly.
- Reconciling of Accounts Receivable.
- Recording Accounts Receivable transactions.
- Preparing weekly accounting reporting for external partners.
- Track daily cash receipts for ECOM activity by brand.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- 3 years in Accounting (CPA a plus).
- Computer skills: Advanced excel and work skills Advanced skills are required.
- Experience with retail and/or wholesale companies, a plus.
- Experience with finance systems (Oracle experience a plus).
- Desired but not require - Retail industry knowledge of factory finance operations, EDI, agent commissions, and sales tax and borrowing factors.
- Strong team attitude and ability to multitask.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) on all levels of the organization.
