Van / Transit Bus Operator

• JOB TITLE: MARCA Vehicle / Transit Bus Driver

NORMAL WORKING HOURS: 1-3 hours mornings and afternoons (Monday-Friday)

REPORTS TO: Transportation Coordinator

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Ability to safely operate automobile, up to 10 passenger vans and /or 14 passenger transit bus to various destinations or specified routes.
• Ability to operate hydraulic lifts and hand controls to load wheelchairs
• The ability to utilize manual lift pump in emergency or when power lift is incapacitated.
• Ability to properly and safely secure wheelchairs in appropriate wheel restraints.
• Ensure/ assist passengers to utilize safety belts as appropriate and in accordance with Ohio Law.
• Perform and document routine pre-trip inspections on any modified vehicles or those used to transport 5 or more individuals (Not including driver).
• Ability to check and monitor basic fluid levels, tires an all safety equipment, ie. first aid kit, fire extinguisher, safety harnesses and seat belts, etc., reporting any issues to supervisor.
• Handles all physical requirements for loading, transporting and driving without assistance
• Ability to assist riders in boarding and departing vehicle as needed.
• Ability to navigate directions utilizing a map or GPS system.
• Executes accurate and timely pick up and drop off of individuals to areas of day service program, place of employment and residence.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and documentation.
• Abides by all traffic rules and safety regulations.
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor or CEO

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Successful completion of background checks and drug screen.
• Must have valid driver’s license as specified by Ohio Law.
• Must provide and maintain valid liability vehicle insurance as specified by Ohio Law at all times.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

• Must provide proof of a high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to meet training requirements set by Marca Industries, Inc.
• Experience working with adults with disabilities, preferred not required

POST HIRE REQUIRED TRAINING, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATION, AND LICENSURE:

1. First Aid/CPR, DODD and Marca specific trainings

2. Specific job duties

3. Maintain Valid Driver’s License as specified by Ohio Law

4. Must maintain 5 or fewer points on driver’s license

5. Must be cleared thru a Driver’s Abstract report by The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to be reviewed at least every 2 years.

• Must complete and show passing competency in Defensive Driving Course at least every 2 years.

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and CEO
• Maintains confidentiality
• Demonstrates and maintains regular and reliable attendance
• Provides accurate and timely records as required by the position
• Attends meetings as required
• Promotes interpersonal sensitivity (objective awareness to others, tactful interaction)
