What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control Manager position at Marcal Paper?
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the storeroom and inventory control processes in alignment with production and maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely availability of spare parts, tools, and materials to avoid equipment downtime or production delays.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of inventory tracking systems (e.g., CMMS, ERP).
- Collaborate with procurement, maintenance, and production teams to forecast inventory needs and manage stock levels accordingly.
- Establish and enforce policies for inventory control, receiving, issuing, and storing materials.
- Monitor and manage obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory.
- Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards in the storeroom area.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate storeroom staff, promoting accountability and performance improvement.
- Generate and present regular inventory performance reports and KPIs to leadership.
- Assist in annual budgeting and cost-control initiatives related to MRO inventory.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5 years of inventory/storeroom management experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control systems, maintenance parts management, and MRO materials.
- Proficient in inventory software systems such as SAP, Maximo, or other CMMS/ERP platforms.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, 5S) is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily on-site in a paper mill facility.
- Exposure to industrial equipment and plant conditions, including temperature variations and noise.
- Must adhere to all PPE and safety protocols.
