Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a paper pulping mill. This role ensures that all machinery and equipment operate efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, lubrication, and adjustments of equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures in production machinery.
- Equipment Installation: Assist in the installation, commissioning, and calibration of new machinery.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company policies while maintaining a safe working environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to schedule maintenance and minimize production disruptions.
- Emergency Response: Quickly respond to unexpected breakdowns to restore operations as soon as possible.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Technical degree or certification preferred).
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance (preferably in a paper pulping or manufacturing environment).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Basic knowledge of PLC troubleshooting is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to high temperatures, noise, dust, and chemicals in an industrial setting.
- Requires wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
