Job description
The Veterans Benefits Paralegal is responsible for supporting the senior members of the team by drafting client communications and communications to the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This dynamic position requires superior written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in a fast-paced team environment. This position offers quickly emerging opportunities for advancement. A successful candidate will be organized, accountable, take direction well, and able to multi-task in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and understand Title 38 US Code and Title 38 of the Federal Code of Regulations and veterans’ benefits and applicable laws and regulations
- Assist claimants with understanding and pursuing VA benefits
- Managing a high-volume caseload
- Navigate client cases and files to answer all status inquiries
- Create positive interactions with clients to maintain client satisfaction
- Draft basic correspondence to clients and the VA
- Update case management system with all correspondence, completed work, contact information, and other information needed for record-keeping purposes
- Ensure that all documents listed in VA decisions are present in client files
- Ensure VA is working on clients’ pending claims and appeals
- Complete applications for claims and appeals
