Job Summary:
Marco Island Yacht Club is seeking a motivated and reliable Dockmaster
Attendant to join our team. The Dockmaster Attendant will support the
Dockmaster in managing the day-to-day operations of our new Riverside
Marina, ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for both
members and guests. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a
passion for boating and exceptional customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in coordinating boat arrivals and departures, ensuring safe and efficient
docking/undocking procedures.
· Monitor and manage dock space utilization, assigning slips, and ensuring policy
compliance.
· Conduct regular dock inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper
maintenance.
· Utilize VHF radio with proper protocols.
Customer Service:
· Provide top-notch service to members and guests, addressing needs and
concerns promptly.
· Assist with reservations, answer questions about marina services, and
accommodate special requests when appropriate.
Maintenance and Safety:
· Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on dock equipment, including
cleats, bumpers, and lighting.
· Enforce safety protocols, ensuring proper use of life jackets, fire extinguishers,
and emergency procedures.
· Report any hazards or maintenance issues to the Dockmaster or maintenance
team.
Administrative Support:
· Answer phones, take reservations, and handle dock fees and member records.
· Assist in managing inventory for dock supplies and equipment.
Team Collaboration:
· Collaborate with the Dockmaster and marina staff for smooth operations and
effective communication.
· Support F&B departments with special events, dock parties, and other activities.
· Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas for operational improvements.
Event Support:
· Assist with club events, sunset cruises, blessing of the fleet, and other activities
hosted at the marina.
· Coordinate dock arrangements for event organizers.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; marine operations education or certifications
are a plus.
· Previous experience in marina operations, dock management, or a related field
preferred.
· Strong knowledge of boating safety and marina operations.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment and perform physical tasks.
· Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance and repairs.
· Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
· Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
· Work is performed both outdoors on the docks and indoors in the marina office.
· Interaction with club members, guests, and staff is frequent, requiring a
professional demeanor.
