ROLE SUMMARY:
The Superintendent will help plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects. This position is responsible for managing material and equipment, assisting with personnel management, ensuring documentation is complete, and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Makes decisions within defined limits of authority and consults supervisor on other decisions.
- Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and fosters an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
- Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed.
- Manages subcontractors and organizes the overall job workflow.
- Supervises company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEOC for small projects or major portions of larger projects.
- Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Coordinates and manages the care, custody, and control of the project site.
- Leads various meetings, including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
- Attends, manages, and participates in progress and project OAC meetings.
- Creates, manages, and implements project schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Tracks and monitors project budgets and costs using the project management system.
- Communicates key project information to owners, design teams, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
- Maintains project filing and documentation systems, including updating drawings, logs, and inspection notebooks.
- Approves and/or records unit cost information for reports and completes daily reports, logs, and tracking documents.
- Evaluates progress on self-perform work and makes necessary adjustments.
- Manages material and equipment needs for the project.
- Assists in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment necessary for self-perform operations.
- Oversees the timecard approval process to ensure accurate reporting and proper cost codes.
- Ensures quality compliance through specifications, setting quality standards, in-house QA/QC, and outside resources.
- Supports project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and governing authorities.
- Gains understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
- Collaborates with field operations leadership and the project team to develop a project pre-plan and implements, monitors, and adjusts it as needed.
- Partners with field leadership to establish field staffing for assigned projects.
- Works with project management to identify schedules and costs associated with project changes.
- Participates in negotiations with owners and architects regarding project changes.
- Prepares and presents at project review meetings, including monthly reviews and key project discussions.
- Participates in buyout meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
- Understands and applies the terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts.
- Identifies and recruits top talent.
- This role specifically requires experience in building parks and installing turf.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Duties include coordination with the course designer and shaper, irrigation installation, quality control, compliance with all required permits, coordination with environmental requirements, and field construction in coordination with the Project Manager. This person shall have previously functioned in a similar role, on a minimum of five (5) comparable, eighteen (18) hole golf courses. USGA and/or PGA experience is REQUIRED.

- Experience managing budgets, maximizing profitability, and generating future work.
- Familiarity with layout skills, crane flagging, and rigging.
- Ability to interpret document changes and their impact on project schedules.
- Strong collaboration skills both internally and externally.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience.
- Minimum o5 1 year of field supervision experience.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- May require travel and/or relocation.
- Exposure to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, and pulling.
- Occasional sitting and computer screen viewing.

PAY RANGE:
This job posting includes a pay range representing the company's good-faith estimate at the time of posting. MarCon Engineering expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Exceptions to the higher end of the range may be made for candidates with exceptional experience, credentials, or expertise.
POSITION TERMS & EXPECTED HOURS:
MarCon Engineering salaried employees are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. During peak seasons, additional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. This position is FLSA-exempt.
