The Counter Sales position provides excellent service to customers primarily via counter sales, and phone, email / online, scanner, and fax communication. This position provides branch operations assistance through merchandising by stocking, picking, pulling, and on time will call assistance. Additionally, the position provides support and information on product inquiry as well as damaged goods, product sold, or product returned. The position effectively utilizes its resources as it relates to company computer systems, online tools, and facility inventory.
The Counter Sales position is conveniently located at our Weymouth, MA Branch located at 51 Mathewson Dr, Weymouth, MA 02189.
What you will be doing:
- Provides excellent customer service through timely customer interaction, problem resolution or escalation with effective and efficient follow-up.
- Promptly responds to customer inquiries via phone, email, or fax with courtesy in a professional demeanor.
- Assists customers by accurately identifying replacement parts, ordering from vendors, then following up with customers and notifying them when parts are in.
- Processes customer requests for pricing, information, and availability regarding products.
- Processes customer orders for products both in stock and special order.
- Follows up with customers regarding special orders, back orders, and will calls as needed
- Provides timely response to business related incoming phone calls, faxes, scans, and emails / online as needed.
- Fills sales orders for product and distributes items to shipping or will call as needed.
- Supports valued business relationships in all dealings with related departments aiming to resolve customer and other issues in a timely manner.
- Completes assigned training successfully and applies learnings as needed and directed.
- Performs general warehouse work as directed, including working in any and all departments as assigned by Management.
- Promotes a safe work environment by quickly addressing unsafe conditions such as damaged product, clutter, cleanliness of work area, and clears customer passage ways.
- Conducts timely and frequent queue checks throughout the day, responding in a timely and effective manner.
- Replenishes showroom, sorting and placing product on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Marks or identifies product or orders with required information using appropriate labeling method.
- Conducts quality inspections of customer returns and damage product for quantity accuracy of returned inventory.
- Responsible for set up and maintenance of merchandising displays.
- Effectively communicates with management upon arrival and departure for the day, at breaks, and at meal periods including any periods at which they will not be at their workstation.
- Accurately and efficiently assists drivers with identifying orders and product to be shipped, then assists with loading their trucks.
- Receives and answers calls from drivers and assists them when Manager is not available.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Job Requirements
- High School diploma or its GED equivalent and some college in business, sales, or related field
- 2 or more years’ experience with warehousing and related functions.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High School or its GED equivalent
- 1-2 years’ experience with customer service and related functions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Aptitude for mathematical operations and numerical analysis.
- Use computers, photocopiers, scanners, phone systems and meeting and virtual platform sharing relative to the needs of the job.
