The Vice President of Infrastructure Services (VP) will be a position in Marcum Technology reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The VP will be focusing on all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Infrastructure Services team. This includes providing in-depth technical expertise for both technical and operational initiatives, working to continually increase customer satisfaction, organizational efficiency, profitability, and growth of the team.

This individual shall provide leadership in planning and managing the national Infrastructure services teams across diverse geographies, encompassing both system and network engineering, storage engineering, presales engineering, project managers, infrastructure professional services and others. The VP will be responsible for defining the structure of the team as it continues to grow to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency. Some other primary responsibilities that will sit with the VP include the following :

Client Relationships – Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients to provide both strategic guidance as well as excellent execution of service delivery.

Resource Management – Direct infrastructure resources to ensure maximum client satisfaction as well as internal operational requirements such as timely and proper time entry, training, collaboration, etc.

Proposal Creation – Review, oversee and approve all statements of work and proposals that are sent to clients and prospects.

Operational Effectiveness – Manage services delivery and KPIs from definition through execution, measurement, and reporting of results.

Vendor Certification Management – Ensuring we maintain and renew the requisite certifications among the team to maximize margin and profitability as well as grow the status and relationships with our key vendors.

Vendor Management – Explore, manage, and maintain strategic relationships with key IT product and service vendors that align with the best valued solutions for our clients.

Budgeting and Planning – Prepare, manage the annual budget, and ensure the group operates with maximum profitability and growth.

The VP must have the ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Must be able to effectively listen and respond to the Sales team and client objectives along with continual rapidly shifting needs. Must have the flexibility to adapt to changing environment / requirements and manage multiple tasks.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Research and maintain current knowledge base and disseminate information to relevant audiences.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to others as appropriate.
  • May be in a position to hire, provide training and assist in developing others.
  • May be in a role with oversight responsibilities and the ability to motivate others.
  • The incumbent may be expected to oversee operating policies and procedures; expected to troubleshoot and manage conflicts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years in IT and consulting industry.
  • Five to seven years of leadership responsibility in managing engineering, design, and implementation teams.
  • Extensive experience in managing infrastructure and operations.
  • Excellent project management, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to analytically identify issues, recognize, and take appropriate action or recommend possible scenarios to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage own work plan and schedule to successfully meet goals with tight deadlines and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to new applications and technologies and learn quickly.
  • Must have advanced high-level knowledge of entire Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take ownership of problems and / or issues and ensures timely resolution.
  • Contribute to the leadership teams strategic planning process.
  • Establish strong collaborative working relationship with the business development and sales teams.
  • Manage customer escalations, and support service delivery managers and project managers to identify and prioritize the opportunities to improve.
  • Drive continuous improvements by reviewing and improving upon existing processes or services to continuously increase customer satisfaction or reinforce effectiveness.
  • Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure planning and operations, design, and deployment.
  • Strong budget planning, financial management and resource management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions and strategic application to business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of business operations and processes.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of diverse scopes in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to improve operational efficiency and service delivery effectiveness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others.
  • Partners with a wide circle of contacts, including vendor / partners and involving them in generating mutually beneficial long-term opportunities and in negotiating win-win outcomes.
  • Reviews, sponsors and approves recommendations for enterprise-wide change programs that impact cross functional key processes.
  • Continually measures the organization's performance against the best-in-class peer group, and sets a vision and plan to exceed those benchmarks.
  • Partners with COO to integrate the strategic technology plan with the teams long-term plans.
  • Leads formal multilevel direct-report teams and informal cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will be credentialed in applicable areas of expertise (i.e. law, accounting, tax, product / service) with at least ten years of relevant experience in a field or industry.
  • Must have strengths in leadership and management from a strategic perspective.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative with internal groups to reach workable solutions, able to anticipate problems, creatively assess alternatives and manage conflicts.
  • The annual salary target for this job in this market is $325,000 - $425,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
