Job Description
The Bartender is responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, engaging with guests, and maintaining an efficient and well-stocked bar. They must have strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine, as well as the ability to create a welcoming and energetic atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation & Service:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and standards.
- Maintain knowledge of classic cocktails, house specials, and seasonal drinks.
- Ensure proper portion control and responsible alcohol service.
- Engage with guests, take drink orders, and make recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Handle multiple orders efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Guest Interaction & Customer Service:
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations on cocktails, wines, and food pairings.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible service guidelines.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and urgency.
Bar Maintenance & Organization:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar.
- Ensure all bar tools, glassware, and garnishes are prepared for service.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Assist with inventory management, restocking, and ordering bar supplies.
General Duties:
- Process payments accurately through the POS system.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down the bar before and after shifts.
- Work collaboratively with servers, barbacks, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 1-2 years of bartending experience in a high-volume bar or restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, beer, and wine.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Must have or be willing to obtain required alcohol service certifications (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 25-50 lbs.
- Ability to shake, stir, and pour drinks repeatedly during service.
