Clinical Staff Pharmacist Compass Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Full-time Clinical Staff Pharmacist.

This position will work 8:00 A.M to 4:30 P.M. at variable locations. No weekends, no Holidays. This position will be required to live within the CMH service area.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, performs all duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs. Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.

Current licensure or evidence of application for licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa.
Two years as a licensed pharmacist with enhanced clinical responsibilities preferred. Completion of ASHP Residency Program desirable. BLS, ACLS, and PALS are desirable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with the daily operation of Compass Memorial Healthcare (CMH) inpatient pharmacy including, but not limited to, clinical review of all patients
• Assist with the daily operation of the CMH Anticoagulation Clinic including patient consultation, laboratory follow-up, and collaboration with providers in accordance with Collaborative Practice Agreement
• Assist with the general operations of the CMH-owned retail pharmacies located in Marengo and North English and provide staffing, as needed
• Review, interpret and evaluate all medication orders for appropriateness
• Oversee accurate preparation and distribution of medication orders
• Provide clinical pharmacy services through consultation, drug information, teaching and/or committee work.
• Advises the prescriber, nurse and patients as required regarding the contents, therapeutic action, utilization, and possible adverse reactions or interactions of drugs.
• Promote optimal use of antibiotic therapy for all patients through daily prospective monitoring of cultures and sensitivities as well as provide therapeutic recommendations, when appropriate
• Participates in the drug therapy management of medical emergencies, as needed
• Directly supervises technicians and interns in the proper packaging, labeling, and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medications.
• Assist with the development and implementation of quality improvements to ensure safe and cost-effective management of pharmaceuticals
• Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with pharmacy regulatory policies, rules, and laws that govern the distribution of medications
• Promote effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter-and intra-departmentally to facility the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
• Assist with special projects pertaining to specific area of interest and/or expertise, as assigned
• Assist in the training and orientation of new employees.
• Demonstrates evidence of continued professional development

8. Complies with all policies and regulations governing the activities of the organization. Participate in process improvement. Supports administration and the efforts for improvement and is part of the solution to the problems.

12. 21. Represents CMH positively in the community. Behaviors including criticizing, condemning, and complaining about CMH or the communities in our service area in public are not acceptable. We will praise each other, commend the hospital, and focus on the positive aspects of the hospital when in public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education, Experience, and Training
a. Bachelors of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.
b. Current licensure or evidence of application for licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa.
c. Must have the ability to work with associated technologies relevant to the position.
d. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, needs and solutions with all levels of the organization.
e. Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
f. Must possess valid Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse, or within 6 months of hire.
g. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
