Are you creative, energetic, and passionate about working with seniors? Do you enjoy planning and leading engaging activities that make a difference? Margaret Pratt Community is looking for an Activities Assistant to help create meaningful experiences for our residents.
We are especially looking for someone who has a passion for working with seniors with dementia and wants to engage closely with our Memory Care residents, ensuring they have fulfilling and enriching days.
Pay: $15 - $18 per hour
Schedule: Day shift | Full-Time
(Monday-Friday | Rotating Weekends)

As an Activities Assistant, you will focus on life enrichment programming while also being trained in housekeeping, transportation, and dining services—allowing you to work across the entire Resident Services Department when needed.
Responsibilities
Life Enrichment (Activities) - Primary Role
- Work closely with the Resident Services Director to plan, organize, and lead daily activities that support residents’ social, physical, and cognitive well-being.
- Develop and implement a variety of programs, such as exercise classes, arts and crafts, music therapy, games, outings, and special events.
- Encourage resident participation, especially those in Memory Care, to ensure they remain engaged and active.
- Build relationships with residents, getting to know their interests and adapting activities accordingly.
- Assist in creating and distributing the monthly activity calendar and newsletter.
- Track resident participation using PointClickCare.
- Assist with decorating and setting up for seasonal events and celebrations.
Additional Responsibilities (Cross-Training Provided)
While the primary focus will be activities, this position includes training in other areas to support the Resident Services Department as needed.
- Dining Services: Help with meal service, setting tables, and assisting residents during mealtime.
- Housekeeping: Help maintain clean and tidy resident apartments and common areas.
- Transportation: Assist residents getting on and off the community vehicle and accompany them on outings when necessary.
Qualifications
- A passion for working with seniors, particularly those with dementia.
- Experience in activities, life enrichment, caregiving, recreation, or related fields is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to engage with residents of all cognitive and physical abilities.
- Ability to adapt activities to meet different needs and interests.
- Comfortable leading both small group activities and larger social events.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and be physically active throughout the shift.
- Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs and assisting residents as needed.
