Are you ready to embark on a career adventure that's as exciting as a tropical getaway? Margaritaville at Sea is looking for a Technical Purchasing Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the ships’ operations are not interrupted by the delivery of technical goods and services to the vessels; and negotiating with vendors for all materials, supplies, and equipment required for vessel operations.
What you get to do:
- Review new and active RFQ’s on a daily basis to ensure they are being handled in a timely manner
- Strategically manage all operational purchases, ensuring the best price while taking into consideration quality, cost, inventory levels and service
- Review orders and place orders when necessary, ensuring reorder quantities and other aspects of best-in-class demand planning are in place
- Review/approve price discrepancies with Accounts Payable and make necessary corrections
- Contact vendors regarding rejected materials and oversee process of PO returns/rejections
- Move delivery dates in and out as required to optimize the flow of materials into the company
- Follow up on open orders to meet deadlines
What it takes to succeed:
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and people skills
- Technical purchasing experience; cruise ship purchasing a plus
- Positive attitude, willing to take on new challenges and solve problems
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
What else is important:
- Able to use a computer and work efficiently in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AMOS
- Ability to create spreadsheets and reports, analyze data, and create correspondence
- Strong indirect influencing and people skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as training manuals, safety rules and operating instructions
- Ability to research and solve problems
