JOB SUMMARY:
The Host is responsible for promptly recognizing and seating all guests in assigned outlets and assisting servers in providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service throughout the guests’ dining experience. This role also involves supporting the cashier in collecting payment for all guest transactions.
JOB FUNTIONS & DUTIES:
- Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Avion standards, as required by scheduling needs, which may vary according to the hotel’s requirements.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards).
- Comply at all times with Avion standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
- Comply with certification requirements for the position, including Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, Safety, etc.
- Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees at all times.
- Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables promptly.
- Be attentive to guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
- Assist the cashier in collecting money or credit cards from guests and servers as needed.
- Prepare the cashier report at the end of the shift.
- Pay out servers’ and service attendants’ tips when appropriate.
- Know how to properly handle reservations for outlets.
- Ensure menus are clean and presentable.
- Perform opening and closing duties according to the established side work checklist.
- Answer the telephone according to standards.
- Have complete knowledge of standards for receiving room service orders.
- Be thoroughly familiar with menus and current specials across all applicable departments.
- Assist servers and cashiers in servicing guests as needed.
- Understand and adhere to state liquor laws.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Attend meetings and training as required by management.
- Interact with guests and colleagues in an occasional unsupervised capacity.
- Maintain a high level of trust and responsibility.
- Represent the company with good character, a solid reputation, and sound judgment.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- High school diploma and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Must be able to clearly convey information and ideas.
- Must be able to evaluate and select alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must be able to multitask effectively.
- Must show initiative in job performance, anticipating what needs to be done before it becomes necessary.
- Must consistently meet deadlines.
