JOB OVERVIEW: As a Bar back, you play a crucial supporting role in the smooth and efficient operation of the bar. Your responsibilities include assisting bartenders, maintaining bar cleanliness, restocking supplies, and ensuring a well-organized and stocked bar area. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the overall success of the bar.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Welcoming guest
- Operating a register with accuracy and efficiency
- Take orders and deliver food and beverages in a timely manner.
- Performing customer service
- Assists Bartenders with set up and break down of bar areas
- Maintain a clean workspace
- Answering phone calls
- Assist one or multiple guests at a time with any questions
- Maintain trash
- Effective communication with coworkers and supervisors
- Basic math
- Must be able to read and write
- Enforcing all policies
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities but has the potential for growth.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prior customer service, bartender and register experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Being bilingual is a bonus!
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and count change.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. A Barback is required to stand and walk for extended periods, often in fast-paced environments. The role involves frequent lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects, such as kegs, boxes, and ice, which can weigh up to 50 pounds or more. Bending, stooping, and reaching are common tasks for stocking shelves and organizing bar supplies. The position also requires quick movement and agility to assist bartenders during peak hours, as well as the ability to work in noisy, crowded spaces. Must be able to work in varying temperatures, including cool storage areas and hot kitchen environments. More than half of employee time on duty is spent outside.
