Position: Night Auditor
Job Summary:
The Night Auditor is directly responsible for the balancing of the daily transactions of the entire hotel; and responsible for the smooth transition of the front office from night to day- in addition night auditors are responsible for all functions of a Guest Service Agent. The Night Auditor also takes responsibility after the Management team has left.
Job Duties: Daily Operations
Following through a checklist, as the Night Auditor your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Auditing/Accounting Functions
- Audit other employees work and correct errors, or make management aware as needed.
- Input information into the property management system as necessary to complete, balance, and closeout each days work.
- Input information into the computer system to compile requested reports.
- Run audit reports/journals from all computer profit centers and outlets.
- Make corrections and adjustments and handle all computer problems that might occur throughout their shift.
- Balance all revenue and settlement accounts nightly, maintain files and reset the system for the next day operations.
- Verifies that room rates are correct and posts those rates to guest accounts.
- Monitors and reconciles as necessary all coupon, discount, and other promotional programs.
- Review the work of all other front office employees for accuracy and completion.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities asked by the Guest Service Manager and Guest Service Supervisors based upon department needs.
- Ensure all reports and back-up vouchers are complete and filed properly.
- Ensure all necessary copies of documents/back-up and reports of daily work are distributed to the proper person.
- Transfer charges and deposits to master accounts.
- Checks to see that all charges are assigned to the appropriate departments.
Guest Service
- Check guests in and out of the hotel as needed in an accurate, speedy and courteous manner.
- Offer guests assistance whenever possible.
- Answers inquires pertaining to hotel policies and services.
- Responsible for resolving escalated customer relations issues.
- Must appropriately address guest requests to ensure customers are satisfied with the hotels services and accommodations.
- Responsible for positively representing and promoting the property.
- Ensures that the lobby and front desk area is clean, organized, visually appealing, and well stocked with all necessary supplies.
- Ensures the safety of guests by making all urgent decisions (walks, fire procedures, etc.)

- Follow and communicate company policies and procedures.
- Fills in for vacant shifts as needed.
- Provide written reports as requested by management and/or owners.
- May attend weekly or monthly departmental meetings.

Working Conditions (travel, hours and environment)
- Able to work full-time, standing for eight (8) hours with some downtime to prepare reports at a computer.
- Able to work at night.
- Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Employees must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving of instructions: (a) can get along with co- workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes and (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor/manager.

- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; post-high school education preferred, but not required.
- One year of experience in similar position, including cash handling, customer service, balancing and totaling shift or daily work in a similar size operation. Hotel experience preferred.
- Must possess knowledge of accounting operations to include all aspects such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.
- Must possess basic math skills and ability to operate a 10-key touch calculator.
- Able to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer.
- Able to read, write and speak English sufficient to understand and communicate with employees and guests.
- Must have excellent telephone etiquette and superior customer service skills.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) with or without reasonable accommodation.
