Summary:
As a Ride Mechanic at Paradise Pier, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and inspections of our amusement rides, attractions, and company equipment. Your responsibilities will extend to repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. Additionally, you will contribute to the upkeep of Paradise Pier facilities through rough carpentry, painting, and repairs.
Job Duties:
Mechanical Maintenance and Repair:
- Maintain, build, repair, and troubleshoot rides and attractions both mechanically and electrically to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of amusement park rides and devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair two and four-cycle engine systems, including air and water-cooled systems.
- Conduct climbing inspections on track and structures to ensure safety standards are met.
Electrical Maintenance and Repair:
- Ensure compliance with specifications set by ride manufacturers and the State of California, documenting all necessary procedures.
- Proficiency in electrical systems, including PLC, VFD drives, AC & DC motors, sensors, switches, and voltages up to 480V.
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues to maintain ride functionality.
- Ensure that all rides are clean and visually compliant with manufacturer specifications and guest expectations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct thorough inspections of rides and attractions, promptly notifying management of any hazards that may jeopardize the safety of guests or employees.
- Keep a comprehensive inventory of ride parts and promptly notify the supervisor of any materials required for safe and continuous operation.
- Identify and propose improvements to enhance ride efficiency, longevity, and guest satisfaction.
Additional Duties:
- Respond promptly to all maintenance-related radio calls in an efficient and appropriate manner.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve ride-related issues effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of rides and attractions for special events or maintenance purposes.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in ride maintenance, focusing on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy, with a robust understanding of Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and heavy equipment is recommended.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to stand continuously for an entire shift.
- Must be able to communicate clearly.
- Long hours may sometimes be required
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Pushing, pulling, and lifting objects from lower to higher position or higher to lower position or moving objects horizontally, from position to position and be able to grasp objects while bending, stooping, standing, sitting or walking,
- Will be required to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
- Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus both indoors and outdoors.
