What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ventilator Technician position at Maria Parham Health?
In this role, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and help us achieve our goal of delivering exceptional healthcare services. As a certified respiratory therapist, you will examine patients with breathing-related conditions and conduct diagnostic testing. You will also consult with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient, perform physiotherapy and other treatments, teach patients to use medications, measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer, deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care, monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate, evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices, respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance, assess patient condition and deliver appropriate treatment, educate the patient and family about the patient's illness and provide information about community support groups and other resources, monitor, receive, stock, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, maintain storage areas with required supply levels and equipment, disassemble, clean, and sterilize equipment, perform preventative maintenance and calibration of machines, calibrate ventilators, disassemble, and clean tags and bags clean equipment, draw ABG's, bubble CPAP for infants, aerosol therapy, MDI therapy, pulse oximetry, ETCO2 monitoring, oxygen therapy, CPT, BIPAP's, ventilators (adult, pediatric, infant), EEG's, and pulmonary function testing, use computer systems to enter orders, document therapy, order supplies, and charge for therapy administered. Required qualifications include a graduate of a Respiratory Care Program of Study for an Advanced Practice Level Respiratory Therapist with an Associate's degree in Science or Certification of Graduation, active and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six (6) months from hire date, and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification. Preferred qualifications include experience working in a hospital setting and proficiency in electronic medical records.
