Job Summary
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for designated sales activity within a specified region or specific customers.
Focused on driving profitable Branded and Bulk sales growth. Maintains strong relationships with the brokers, distributors, and direct accounts within the region.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Revenue Growth: Collaborate with Regional Sales Director to achieve territory sales goals in line with company strategies and objectives.
- Grow Existing Customers: Increase sales with existing clients through direct contact and solid relationships to ensure profitable account growth.
- Build New Customers: Increase our strategic customer base in quantity and quality via direct customer contact. Focus on developing long-term customer relationships.
- Develop new opportunities: Build Branded, Bulk, and Private Label sales opportunities through current contacts and new leads.
- Sales Relationships: Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships with key decision makers. Meets with key clients such as brokers and distributors as needed to maintain the relationship, negotiate, and close sales.
- Travel: Periodic travel may be required, most often day trips, however some overnight stays should be expected.
- Ensure High Service Levels: Promote and build trusted relationships with key client contacts offering high levels of service. Partner with internal management and Inside Sales/Customer Care to provide outstanding service and solutions and assist in resolving customer issues.
- Assist the sales team: Identify Brand, Bulk, and Private Label opportunities on a national level and participate in the planning to achieve placement in approved key retailers. Research & remain aware of competitor products, pricing, programs, and sales activities.
- Trade Activities & Promotion: Responsible for coordinating Trade Investment programs with the Regional Sales Director to effectively deploy resources resulting in repeatable successes in driving placement and profitable sales growth of Marich Branded & Bulk programs.
- Sales Reporting: Deliver clear, concise, and timely reports to effectively communicate performance of sales volume, sales potential, opportunities, progress and digress of goals, as well as active sharing of issues and needs.
- Trade Shows: Attends/participates in trade shows to raise product awareness and generate contacts and leads for new business.
Required Qualifications
3 years' experience in Account Management, Merchandising, and/or Category Management experience, across North America in a CPG setting
Bachelor's degree required
Management presentation competencies to effectively present key insights to internal and external stakeholders
Strong communication skills with an ability to outline and reinforce the North America Regional vision / strategy
Interpersonal skills to interface with the necessary internal and external stakeholders, building solid relationships and achieving brand sales goals
Data analysis skills to monitor key accounts' performance in category and develop strategies to close gaps and increase sales
Excellent problem solving / analytical skills

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This position involves working in a temperature-controlled office environment with standard office hours. However, occasional visits to the food manufacturing plant may be required, where employees must adhere to strict safety and hygiene protocols.
Pay Range
The target salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000/annually. The actual rate offered will depend on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, years of relevant experience. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus plan.
