POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Building Automation Systems (BAS) General Manager will oversee all aspects of Marick Mechanical’s BAS operations. This role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and team excellence while meeting financial and strategic objectives. The BAS General Manager will serve as a key leader within the organisation, responsible for guiding the team, maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving sustainable growth.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster a safe working environment with full compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Ensure strong client communication, satisfaction, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients to ensure satisfaction and identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to align BAS operations with Marick’s overall strategy.
  • Manage financial performance and optimise technician utilisation.
  • Support sales strategies to drive revenue and expand market presence.
  • Lead operational and sales personnel, providing clear direction and support.
  • Monitor and evaluate KPIs to identify opportunities or mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies and operational plans for the BAS division.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to share updates, training opportunities, and critical information.
  • Recruit, train, and coach team members to promote individual and organisational development.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, pride, and high performance within the team.
  • Oversee billing and collection processes to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Estimate, bid, and secure BAS construction, service, and maintenance agreement opportunities.
  • Promote and sell building automation systems such as Honeywell, Johnson Controls, and Carrier open protocol systems.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing clients and actively pursue new business opportunities.
  • Assist the sales team in estimating and bidding, providing expert insights as needed.
  • Work closely with Marick’s project managers to deliver successful outcomes on in-house projects.
  • Research and engage with new prospects, including schools, hospitals, engineers, and architects, to expand Marick’s client base and reputation as an authorised BAS contractor.
  • Attend industry events and meetings to represent Marick Mechanical and support sales efforts.
  • Build and manage a database of existing systems to target marketing and business development efforts effectively.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure the highest level of satisfaction.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a BAS-focused role, with a sales-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication, organisational, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in technology and a results-driven mentality.
  • Ability to draft business correspondence, reports, and procedural documents.
  • Effective public speaking and client presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn and grow.
  • Strong strategic planning, financial acumen, and analytical skills.
  • Proven track record of inspiring, motivating, and empowering teams.
  • Experience with P&L management and business strategy.
  • Commercial instinct with a focus on the long-term impact of decisions.
