Job Summary
Hosts and reports for News Programs. Writes, edits and produces content for various news programs. Operates audio board and digital editing software in delivering live and recorded content. This position works in person at KJZZ studios located in Tempe, AZ.
Essential Functions
30% - Anchors news programs and delivers newscasts
30% - Produces continuity breaks and conducts interviews
20% - Gathers, writes, edits, and produces news and features
10% - Operates studio equipment
10% - Fundraising efforts. performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in journalism, English, broadcasting, communication or a related field and five years of on-air experience in journalism, news, multimedia, and audio board operations in recorded and live situations that includes demonstrated experience through on-air portfolio within the last five years that shows an understanding of target audiences, continuity, broadcast technology, interviewing skills, and well-written on-air news which includes two years of supervisory experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
A. Two (2) or more years hosting and anchoring live, broadcast programs with a personable on air presentation and strong, friendly delivery that fits seamlessly into programs.
B. Two (2) or more years producing well-written, contextual news with sound
C. Two (2) or more years live broadcast experience and audio board use
D. Demonstrable experience exercising discretion in determining content of written copy/news judgment
E. Two (2) or more years of audio editing skills
F. One (1) or more years of digital media experience/writing and producing digital media content.
G. Portfolio of on air work within the last five (5) years that shows an understanding of target audiences, interviewing skills, and well-written on-air news provided in any media format submitted by close of business of the application deadline attach with your application
Special Working Conditions
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
