Job Summary

THIS POSITION WILL BEGIN August 2025. ONLY APPLICATIONS WITH ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WILL BE CONSIDERED: UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS WITH EVALUATION (IF APPLICABLE), RESUME/CV, AND COVER LETTER.



The instructor will teach in both traditional in-person classes and non-traditional settings, such as short-term courses and accelerated programs, as well as hybrid and/or online courses. Instructs students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures in computer information systems (CIS), with an emphasis on cybersecurity. Other instructional areas may include Cisco networking, virtualization, Linux and Assembly; Programming languages Python and C, collaborates on developing new certificates and programs in CIS areas; provides leadership in courses for high school outreach programs such as Early College, ACE, etc; collaborates on STEM initiatives. Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promotes student success. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties. Contributes to the academic life and mission of the college. May teach at the Pecos and Williams sites. Facilitates activities outside the classroom for students (e.g., Internships, undergraduate student research, clubs, STEM initiatives, experiences for students in the community, etc.) Builds relationships with businesses and community organizations and provides leadership for computing studies. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.

May teach evening as well as day classes.

Essential Functions



- Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students, including students in high school bridge programs, in a classroom and/or lab setting (50%), online or hybrid, accelerated (50%), and/or other alternative schedules and formats ; uses active learning strategies to engage students in learning and promotes student success; facilitates student learning, retention, and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and employs alternative delivery or scheduling techniques where appropriate.

- Develops instructional materials and curriculum; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses and evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades examinations or other learning activities; participates in division and college assessment and program review processes; uses assessment and evaluation results to improve instruction and student learning.

- Maintains office hours to assist, tutor, and advise students to promote learning, citizenship, and personal development; works with students outside of the classroom on instructional activities and projects; provides leadership for STEM programs and activities; develops and cultivates relationships with high school and university institutions to develop and promote transfer pathways for students; cultivates relationships with business and industry to identify new programs and work skills and develops internship and co-op opportunities.

- Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through technology, research, reading/studying the literature, attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops; develops and enhances knowledge of teaching and learning; participates in college and district activities, including department/division meetings, committees, workshops and projects; contributes to the academic life and mission of the college; demonstrates intercultural competence in interactions with students, staff, and the community; maintains a team approach in collaborating with faculty, staff, and students.

Minimum Qualifications

For occupational disciplines, a combination of education and/or experience is required to qualify. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:

Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher OR
A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR
A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field

Desired Qualifications



1. Degree in a field of computer technology with a preference given to a master's degree or higher.

2. Recent experience teaching at a community college or university, utilizing a variety of delivery formats including face-to-face, online, hybrid, and short-term/accelerated courses.

3. Experience with teaching methods that promote student engagement using experiential, collaborative and/or active learning.

4. Industry certifications in computing technology, such as A, virtualization Certiport, Linux, AWS, Azure, Network , Security , Cisco, and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

5. Industry and/or teaching experience in cybersecurity/Information Technology.

6. Industry and/or teaching experience in computer programming, with preference for Assembly, C, C , and Python.

Special Working Conditions

May be required to teach days, evenings, and/or weekends as needed.

May be required to teach at multiple sites.

May be required to lift objects up to 40 lbs.
