  • Job Summary

    The Fiscal Technician Senior role is part of the Maricopa Community Colleges Business Services Division, which oversees key areas such as facilities planning and development, financial planning and budgeting, financial services, and auditing. This division plays a vital role in streamlining operations, reducing costs, and enhancing overall organizational performance.

    In a Fiscal Technician Senior role, this position is responsible for reviewing, researching, and resolving financial aid and student account inquiries related to Title IV financial aid fund calculations for the U.S. Department of Education. This opportunity will provide essential support to Maricopa Community Colleges students, colleges, and external organizations, utilizing analytical skills to research issues, problem-solve, and effectively communicate financial aid information. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional passionate about financial services and student support.

    Essential Functions

    25% - Responsible for weekly calculation of Title IV Federal Return of Funds, reporting data to the Department of Education.

    25% - Researches financial aid discrepancies and completing follow-up calculations.

    20% - Assesses and analyzes Student financial aid accounts to determine if adjustments are required to maintain compliance and federal guidelines. Reporting required data to the Department of Education.

    20% - Responds to general inquiries through email, phone, and letters from students and colleges; assist students with delinquent accounts.

    10%- Other duties as assigned, such as aiding the collections and 1098T department with researching payment history, reporting direct payments to collection agencies, identifying defaulted in-house payment plans for collections referral, and providing customer support.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED and two years of related finance or accounting support experience, such as processing financial transactions

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

    Desired Qualifications

    1. Two (2) or more years of experience in providing customer service in person, by phone, email, and letter.

    2. Two (2) or more years of experience in reviewing, researching, and resolving customer or student account discrepancies.

    3. Two (2) or more years of experience with meeting compliance with regulations and policies as it relates to finance, accounting, or financial aid.

    4. Two (2) or more years of experience researching Customer or Student Information Systems, such as PeopleSoft.

    5. Two (2) or more years of experience in Excel and Word.

    Special Working Conditions

    May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

    May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time, viewing a computer monitor.

    Work schedule : Staff is required to work a minimum of 2 days in the office with remote work for the remaining workdays. This work schedule may be revised based on department needs.
